Ocean's 13: B

·

"Ocean's 13" is a venue for the elite of Hollywood to flaunt their immense talent for the audience to eat up, but it's clear by watching them work that everyone involved is having fun. And you know what? As a viewer, I did too.

Bruce Springsteen Live in Dublin : A+

·

If you appreciate his music at all, get Live In Dublin now. If you can feel anything, try to stop the hair on the back of your neck from standing on edge during revamped classics like "Highway Patrolman" and "Atlantic City" or Pete Seeger greats like "Mrs. McGrath."

Marilyn Manson Eat Me, Drink Me

·

Even with Manson in full confessional mode here, we still get a few cringe-inducing lines, yet the general feel is that while Reznor is infinitely busy exorcizing his own demons, Manson is more concerned with pleasing the fans that have stuck with him since the days of "Cake and Sodomy." Both intentions are honorable, so I suppose it just depends on your mood.

Queens of the Stone Age Era Vulgaris : B+

·

Vulgaris is about three-fourths greatness, one-fourth OK-ness and no lameness. Lead single "Sick, Sick, Sick," with vocals from The Strokes' Julian Casablancas, is a killer bass-heavy dance track, and it's also rivaled by many other excellent moments. Vulgaris might not be QOTSA's best, but since what's common for them is exceptional for most other bands, it's well worth your time.

Hostel: Part II-B

·

Much like when the first "Hostel" came out, plenty of critical disgust was spewed forth, for it was "too shocking" and "grotesque." What most fail to realize is the first film, and now "Hostel: Part II," came out at opportune times when the American box office managed to be flooded with unnecessary remakes of horror classics, "Saw" sequels and Japanese horror films dumbed down for our audiences. Sure it's a sequel, but its a worthy one at that.

New Indiana licenses introduced to combat underage activities

·

Indiana drivers can expect to see a change the next time they go to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels unveiled a new driver’s license and identification card designed to battle identity theft, card tampering and underage alcohol consumption, said Greg Cook, BMV spokesman. Cook said the new driver’s licenses and identification cards were designed in large part to prevent those who are under the age of 21 from purchasing alcohol or those under 18 from purchasing tobacco.

Woodlands make up the ‘heart’ of campus

·

It is a common belief IU has a policy that if a tree is taken down on campus, two trees must be planted in its place. Professor James Capshew said he’s never heard of a policy of that sort, but it shows the importance and value trees have on campus.

Writers’ Conference draws big crowd

·

A class of unconventional students gathered at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Dogwood Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. Coffee in hand, the members of Adam Langer’s “Writing Like My Dog” class were unlike a majority of students on the IU campus. These classmates were not attending class for credit. Instead, they were attending the 67th annual Indiana University Writers’ Conference.
