After adding former Iowa State University redshirt junior forward Alisa Williams on April 6, Indiana women’s basketball secured its second transfer portal commitment from a former Cyclone on Sunday. Former redshirt junior guard Kenzie Hare committed to the Hoosiers, according to an Instagram post from Hare.
Hare averaged six points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists in her 24.4 minutes on the court per game. In her redshirt junior season with Iowa State, Hare started 31 games and played in all 32 contests for the Cyclones. She did not start a Feb. 25 showdown against Oklahoma State University — in which Iowa State lost 88-77 — but Hare played 29 minutes and scored six points off the bench.
The Bartlett, Illinois, native finished last season shooting 40.5% from the field and 40% from behind the 3-point arc on 4.1 attempts per game. Hare finished the campaign 16 of 33 from the free throw line for a 48.5% mark.
The 5-foot-9 Hare transferred to Ames, Iowa, before the 2024-25 season. However, her season was cut short due to a hip injury. In her eight starts and 10 appearances on the floor, Hare averaged 8.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 22.8 minutes per game.
Hare started her collegiate career at Marquette University. In her freshman season, Hare saw action in 31 games, averaging 7.2 points per contest and making the Big East All-Freshman team.
During the 2023-24 campaign, Hare produced 14 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 32 games played. She led the Big East in 3-point percentage after knocking down 42.5% of her attempts, which landed her as an All-Big East Honorable Mention.
Hare and Indiana redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont played on the same AAU team at M14 Hoops in Illinois. Hare played three seasons at Bartlett High School before transferring to Naperville North High School for her senior year. She produced 2,494 points and made 398 3-pointers — the fourth-most in Illinois state history — throughout her high school career.
Indiana saw six Hoosiers enter the transfer portal, which opened April 6 and will close Monday. Freshman guard Nevaeh Caffey committed to the University of Missouri on April 12, junior forward Edessa Noyan joined Nebraska on Friday, sophomore guard Chloe Spreen committed to Illinois State University on Friday and sophomore forward Faith Wiseman joined Western Michigan University on Saturday. Sophomore guard Phoenix Stotijn and junior forward Jade Ondineme are still in the portal.
After finishing the 2025-26 campaign with an 18-14 overall and a 6-12 record in Big Ten play, Indiana now looks to the transfer portal and its incoming freshmen class to help fill any gaps left by outgoing players.
Indiana also picked up former Nebraska forward Jessica Petrie in the transfer portal. Petrie committed to the Hoosiers on April 13 after starting 23 games for Nebraska last season, averaging 11.3 points per game.
Indiana also brings in ESPN’s No. 8 recruiting class with four new players. The class includes No. 25 wing Addison Nyemchek, No. 29 guard Gigi Battle, No. 66 guard Ashlinn James and four-star center Zoe Jackson.
