Zavaleta, Soffner Honored by Big Ten

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Luis Soffner and sophomore forward Eriq Zavaleta earned Big Ten Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, the Big Ten office announced. For the second time in as many weeks, Zavaleta earned the honor.

Hoosiers, Aztecs Play to a Scoreless Draw

As the final few seconds elapsed, and for about 15 seconds after the match ended, sophomore forward Eriq Zavaleta stood, almost motionless, at the intersection of the half-circle and the 18-yard-box on the left side of the field.

Hoosiers escape with 24-17 win

IU's nine game losing streak is now history. In front of a crowd of 41,882 Saturday night at Memorial Stadium, the Hoosiers edged in-state Football Championship Subdivision opponent Indiana State 24-17 in the 2012 season opener. Sophomore quarterback Tre Roberson led the way for IU, completing 26 passes on 36 attempts for a career-high 280 yards and a touchdown pass.

Matte and Replogle Named Captains for ISU Game

Seniors center Will Matte and defensive tackle Adam Replogle will serve as team captains for tonight's season opener against Indiana State. The duo has combined to fill the game captain role a combined 21 times previously in their careers, 12 games for Replogle and nine for Matte. Matte, a fifth-year center from Wheaton, Ill., has been a mainstay in the Hoosier offensive line since his arrival in Bloomington; starting the first 32 games of his career before suffering an injury in week eight last season at Wisconsin.

Hoosiers shutout Clemson 3-0 in an ironic minded game

From the get-go Friday night's game against Clemson looked as if it would be a little, ironic. In a game that eventually landed the Hoosiers 3-0 this season the outcome coincidentally ended in a 3-0 victory. The first instance of ironic activity occurred in the second minute of the first half.

Two New Additions to IU Football Uniform

IU Football didn't make any drastic changes in its uniform or accessories that go with it, but two minor additions to this years' team. First, the jersey will now have an inner-collar slogan that says "For The Glory of Old IU". Check it out below: The other addition you might notice on Saturday against Indiana State could be the gloves that some of the players will be wearing.

Supica named Big Ten Freshmen Player of the Week

On Tuesday, the Indiana University field hockey team received some good news. IU freshmen midfielder Sydney Supica was named Big Ten Freshmen Player of the Week. During the opening weekend, Supica's defensive play stood out as the Hoosiers defeated Kent State and Vermont to start the season 2-0.

Women's basketball's Kaila Hulls to miss 2012-13 season

Written by Joe Popely Indiana redshirt freshman Kaila Hulls will miss the 2012-13 women's basketball season after suffering an ACL tear to her right knee during preseason conditioning. Hulls tore the same ACL in October of 2011 while a member of Bowling Green State University's women's basketball team and was forced to sit out the entire 2011-12 season.

Former Hoosier Tennis Player Named Assistant Coach

Myriam Sopel, a native of Longes, France played tennis for the Cream and Crimson from 2007-2011. Now she will dispense her tennis wisdom as an assistant coach. Sopel has recently taken the job of assistant coach at Wagner College which is located in Staten Island, N.Y.

Farrell Declared NCAA Woman of the Year Finalist

Indiana University swimmer and French Olympian Margaux Farrell was declared by the NCAA today as one of the 30 finalists from a group of 430 nominees for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Ten honorees from each NCAA division and representing various NCAA sports compose the top 30 finalists.

IU Swimmer Competes at Junior Pan Pacifics

Indiana University sophomore Cynthia Pammett competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii. Unable to attend the first week of classes, Pammett represented her native Canada as she swam four events. Pammett placed eighth in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:03.60, a .46 gain from her time in prelims (1:03.14) where she placed seventh. In the 100-meter freestyle, Pammett clocked in at 56.47 earning 11th overall. Pammet got her second top-eight finish in Saturday's 200-meter backstroke competition where she placed eighth with a time of 2:16.47.

Hoosiers Ranked No. 12 in Big Ten Power Rankings

ESPN released their Week 1 Big Ten Power Rankings today with the Hoosiers coming in at No. 12. Nos. 1-11 include Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Nebraska, Purdue, Penn State, Illinois, Northwestern, and Minnesota. Here is what they said on Indiana: 12.

Texas defensive tackle commits to IU

Late Sunday night, Cypress Falls (Texas) High School senior Jacobi Hunter broke his own news of his college decision, making the call to join IU Coach Kevin Wilson and the Hoosier squad. A 6-foot-1, 275-pound defensive lineman from Houston, Hunter is the ninth commitment for IU's 2013 recruiting class and the first defensive tackle commit in the group.

Football Depth Chart Released

Today, the football team released the first depth chart of the season. Check it out in full here. As you can see, sophomore quarterback Tre Roberson is listed as the starter, which doesnt come to much of a suprise.
