The Bloomington Board of Public Works approved a right-of-way special event permit in a July 14 meeting for five temporary street closures tied to the filming of “Little Five,” a movie set at Indiana University during the 1980s and inspired by the first Women’s Little 500 race.
Announced in a July 15 Bloomington news release, filming in Bloomington is scheduled to continue through Aug. 13, with closures expected to affect traffic, parking and travel near the closures.
The closures begin July 20-21 on Grant Street between Eighth Street and Sixth Street and on Seventh Street between Lincoln Street and Dunn Street. Park Avenue between 10th and Ninth streets will also close July 20 and the Griffy area will be closed Aug. 1.
More closures are planned Aug. 3-4 on Kirkwood between Walnut and Indiana streets and Dunn Street between Sixth and Fourth streets. The alley between Seventh Street and Sixth Street parallel to College Avenue and Walnut Street will close Aug. 4.
The city will place traffic-control measures and signage as needed for pedestrians, motorists, bicyclists and transit riders. Extreme weather or other factors could shift the schedule, according to the release.
Residents who are interested in participating as extras for the film can fill out a form through Pigasus Pictures, an Indiana-based independent film production company. More updates on closures can be found on the city’s inRoads page.
