Ashton residents make switch to co-ed floors

A two-year-old proposal by the student government of Ashton Center was finally passed and implemented, making certain buildings in Ashton co-ed, meaning that males and females would be living on the same floor with male-occupied rooms next to female-occupied rooms.

Gamma Rho Lambda sorority to form at IU

Daley, 39, is a seven-year resident of Monroe County. He received a degree in communications from Central Connecticut State University. Daley owns a local consulting firm and formerly ran a county council office in New Castle, Del. He is a graduate of the Monroe County Citizens’ Academy.

Bernice Thrasher Luck

Luck, a lifetime resident of Monroe County, has masters and bachelor degrees from IU. She has worked in Monroe County government for more than 20 years in positions such as chief deputy auditor and chief deputy treasurer.

Cathy Smith

Smith has been the county treasurer since 2009. She received a master’s degree in engineering from North Carolina State University. She has been a project engineer, department head in engineering and director at various organizations. She previously served as Monroe County chief deputy auditor and financial director.

Vivien Bridges

Bridges studied accounting and bookkeeping at IU and is completing State Board of Accounts auditor training. She worked as Monroe County’s lead tax distributor and payroll and personnel administrator.

Steve Saulter

Saulter graduated from the Kelley School of Business with an accounting degree in 1975. He spent 23 years as an Indiana State Board of Accounts field examiner.

Walter Hatfield

Thursday, Oct. 25,2012 2:20 p.m.

Hatfield, 72, is seeking his first term in office. He has 47 years of experience as a mortician and formerly served as Chief Deputy Corner in Howard County and district director of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association. He has been a Monroe County resident for 31 years.
