Radio program Hola Bloomington on WFHB presented Department of Spanish and Portuguese lecturer Israel Fernando Herrera with the 2012 Avant-Garde Award for his work with radio segment “Un Cafecito Con.”
During the program, Herrera speaks with Latinos and Spanish-speaking individuals in the community.
The program promotes cultural and academic activities by inviting IU students and faculty to be a guest on the monthly segment, Herrera said in an email.
The show also features local artistic groups.
Herrera’s show can be heard 6 to 7 p.m. every Friday on 91.3 and 98.1 FM.
