Bridges

Monroe County Auditor Candidate

Bridges studied accounting and bookkeeping at IU and is completing State Board of Accounts auditor training. She worked as Monroe County’s lead tax distributor and payroll and personnel administrator.

“I worked for 25 years in the auditor’s office for auditor’s of both parties in the financial and property divisions of the office... It does not make policy. In the past four years, the auditor’s office has been very high profile locally. We all have seen the news about it. I will strive not to be in the news.

“My opponent, who I have known for years, is a former SBOA employee.  As first financial office the past four years, he has failed to maintain oversight and internal control.

“I will serve the public courteously and be responsive to all inquiries from other governmental offices and the public. Every employee will be competent and well trained. We will accurately and completely perform our statutory duties.  Nonetheless, all work will be checked by another staff person. I will expect high ethical standards from all members of my staff, myself included.

“We will cooperate with other governmental units to streamline how the public is served and to achieve economies and avoid duplication of effort. Fiscal integrity, accountability, transparency and reinstating checks and balance are the issues in our local auditor’s office.”
