Skip Daley

Local business owner

Daley, 39, is a seven-year resident of Monroe County. He received a degree in communications from Central Connecticut State University. Daley owns a local consulting firm and formerly ran a county council office in New Castle, Del. He is a graduate of the Monroe County Citizens’ Academy.

“County council is the fiscal arm of our local government: approving budgets, determining tax rates and appropriating funds. As a business development specialist and former consultant to a large city mayor, I have the needed experience to meet our current economic challenges head-on and implement the innovative and collaborative solutions needed to prosper.

My platform of innovation, collaboration and job creation is a common-sense approach of analyzing our departments, roles and responsibilities and implementing more efficient and effective means of governing through the sharing of best practices. I will work to balance our current deficit budget. My funding priorities are public safety and infrastructure improvements. I will work hard to ensure that our county creates a climate to better support the private sector in the creation of well-paying jobs for our residents and in hopes of retaining students past graduation.

Although council does not work directly with matters of education, I have already begun developing relationships with IU on the creation of internship programs that will place students in positions of responsibility within our local government, allowing students to step out of the classroom and apply their knowledge and energy in a working environment.”
