Saulter graduated from the Kelley School of Business with an accounting degree in 1975 and spent 23 years as a field examiner for the Indiana State Board of Accounts.

“I am currently the county financial director, which requires me to have current knowledge concerning the operation of county government.

“My opponent, on the other hand, has been retired from county government for the past seven years. Therefore, her learning curve will be necessary to get up-to-date. I am already up-to-date on matters and would require no training.

“The auditor’s office has completed the following items to improve the level of transparency: All county ordinances and resolutions since 1989 to current has been scanned and placed on the county web page for taxpayer viewing.

Current county budgets and salary ordinances are also listed on the county web page for taxpayer viewing.

We have recently added a new page called financial updates. This page lists the claims every two weeks that the county commissioners will review and approve for payment. County taxpayers can now see how the county is spending their money.

We also are now listing a financial statement monthly that shows the cash balances of the over 150 funds we administer.”
