Check out the feature story on Maurice Creek running in today's paper about how Creek found success on the basketball court with help from his stepfather, despite the absence of his biological father. Here's some more tidbits about Creek: Grew up in Oxon Hill, Md. Offered a scholarship from Marquette (Tom Crean) as a 10th grader Commmitted to IU on May 3, despite not stepping onto campus until late September He and his family are working on coming in town for the Illinois game (Sun., Feb.
Well after a tough loss against Illinois on Sunday IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack tried to stay positive in her radio show with Jeremy Gray tonight at Coaches Bar and Grill.
Though the Hoosiers didn't quite "Ground the Gophers" as hoped, IU coach Tom Crean did manage to round up several in-state recruits for visits today. In addition to IU commits Christian Watford, Derek Elston, Bobby Capobianco and Jordan Hulls, others in the crowd included Donnie Hale (2010), five-star sophomore Marquis Teague (seemed to be leaning towards Louisvlle, if not Wake Forest, so it makes you wonder what Crean said to get him on campus), Cody Zeller (2011) and Justin Gant (2011), among other high school underclassmen. I am trying to get in touch with all four of those guys above (I am already in the process of setting something up with Hale), so hopefully you can find some more on them later this week here on the Basketblog (follow the jump for more recruiting tidbits). Also: Interviewed Maurice Creek last week, check idsnews.com on Tuesday for the story about he found success on the basketball court, despite a tough childhood Crean made the trip out to Arizona last week to check on 2011 IU recruit Matt Carlino.

Before there was Barack Obama, Sam Cooke sang "a change is gonna come." Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, that change did not come Sunday.
If the Hoosiers are going to have a chance to contend for a Big Ten Title games like today against Illinois that they should win they must win.
Whitney Thomas, Whitney Lindsay, Lindsay Enterline ... confused yet? That is why Whitney Lindsay is referred to as Little Whit and Whitney Thomas is Big Whit.
With a name like that its hard to not be interested. It just so happens with the women's basketball team doing so well this year the Athletic Department is providing a way for fans to travel to the game in Columbus against Ohio State on Feb.
One of the many frustrating sub-plots to this season has been the Hoosiers inability to make baskets from point blank range.
Hello devoted followers of the IU baseball team! With this being our first post to "Inside Pitch," I just wanted to introduce myself (Greg Rosenstein) and my co-beat writer (DeAntae Prince). DeAntae is from Chicago and has covered men's soccer, wrestling and softball for the IDS.
Senior and current men's basketball columnist Zach Osterman took the time to write up his thoughts on the current women's basketball season.
Thanks to the technological wonders of blogging and Blackberries, I am able to bring you this grainy cell phone picture I took of the basketball practice facility, which has recently sprung out of the ground and begun to take shape. The facility is the second large project undertaken as part of the athletics facilities expansion that began with the North End Zone Project. I talked to Fred Glass yesterday, and he said that the setbacks experienced when they opened up the ground and found they had to move some utility lines earlier this year have been overcome.
This time, it's a poster, one IU Athletics has been distributing around campus and Bloomington. It was one of Fred Glass' many marketing brainchildren, this one harkening back to his days as a Hoosier student himself.

The Hoosiers (13-3, 6-1) will battle the Wolverines (9-9, 2-5) at 7p.m. tonight in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Although the Hoosiers did not make the top 25 in either the AP or ESPN/Coaches Poll their win against Purdue on Monday did draw some national attention.
Athletic Director Fred Glass isn't waisting any time adapting to his new job here at IU. First the five dollar balcony seats at men's basketball games, and now Glass plans on having office hours for the student body on campus. Glass said he plans to meet with some student organization leaders on Friday to plan a good time and place for him to hold office hours. "I really want to try and be as accessible to the general student body as I can," Glass said. We'll have more on this later - but what are your thoughts on this idea? Do you think its a good call for the A.D.
