One of the many frustrating sub-plots to this season has been the Hoosiers inability to make baskets from point blank range. Junior Jeremiah Rivers said the team spent a lot of time trying to fix this problem.

"We've spent hours on layups," Rivers said. "I mean hours on layups and it's been real good for us."

Rivers said the younger guys on the team can't afford to be passive when they go up to the hoop, and that the collective team needs to use the backboard more to have more success.

* IU coach Tom Crean isn't letting the Big Ten grind stop him from his recruting obligations. Crean was in Phoenix and New Jersey this week, and said he will be back on the road for the next two days before coming back to Bloomington.

"There's no time for us to rest on this thing," Crean said. "But it's been good. I certainly didn't mind the Phoenix weather for a couple of hours."

Crean added despite the teams current record, there's still a lot of 'juice' behind the Indiana name, which is why it is important his staff stay on the recruting trail as much as they do.

"The biggest mistake we could make would be for us to think its just natural."

* In addition to seeing more posters similar to the 'Ground the Gophers' (Clip the Hawkeyes was my personal favorite) IU Athletic Director Fred Glass also set the first of his new office hours. February 2nd from 3-5 in the Persimmon room at the Indiana Memorial Union. Glass said he hopes his office hours will be more interesting for students than the average office hours held.

"It won't be like classic office hours for like Finite Math where a professor is sitting in his office and there's a line of students sitting outside his door," Glass said. "People may just wander by, kind of a free flow. I'll take questions and here comments."

Glass has not set a time for another one, but said he wants it to be a monthly thing.
