Before there was Barack Obama, Sam Cooke sang "a change is gonna come."

Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, that change did not come Sunday. IU (5-13, 0-6) played the Gophers tight the entire game, but lost for the ninth consecutive game. IU had season-best performances from several Hoosiers (the students, Tijan Jobe and Malik Story to name a few), but Minnesota prevailed in the closing minutes, winning 67-63.

Devan Dumes led the Hoosiers with 19 and Malik Story and Tom Pritchard chipped in with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Like so many games this season, IU struggled from the line (11-21) and with taking care of the ball (16 turnovers), ultimately killing their own momentum.

At times Sunday, it seemed as if things were finally going to break the Hoosiers way. Assembly Hall was packed for the White Out (16,539), Verdell Jones hit a halfcourt shot before halftime and the Gophers struggled the same way the Hoosiers did (13-22 from the line, 13 turnovers). But the Gophers got stops when they needed them and held IU off. In the final 10 minutes, the Hoosiers never trailed by more than five points, but were also never able to take the lead despite cutting it to one-point several times.
