Evan Crawford, IU's everything man and resident speed threat over the last three years, was taken by the San Francisco Giants with the 267th overall pick.

By Brian Smith Special to Under The Rock No more underclassmen status. No more title of inexperienced signal caller. And, let's not forget, no more Kellen Lewis. The moment Lewis was banished from the IU football team, that's the moment Ben Chappell became its leader. Personally, I wouldn't know Ben Chappell if he walked up to me and shook my hand.
UPDATE: 9:18 p.m. Matt Bashore has just been chosen by the Minnesota Twins at pick No. 46, completing the trio of Hoosiers pretty much guaranteed to go on day one. The MLB talking heads, who I'm growing less and less forgiving of, say Bashore isn't overpowering, but has an "easy" delivery, meaning "there's plenty to work with there." I'm not sure what that means.
Hey folks, That is correct. As I'm sure you all are aware (especially you, hoosiermama), tonight is the the 2009 edition of the Major League Draft.
I had lunch with Dan Dakich on Thursday in Indianpolis for a column on his basketball past, and had the chance to get his thoughts on various things.
An All-American. The honor hangs up with the championship rings and the history-smashing records. Designated hitter Alex Dickerson can hang the the title on his wall, as he was named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. The honor goes along with Dickerson's Big Ten Freshman of the Year award and second team all-conference choice.
I came across this yesterday and thought those of you living on or near the eastside of Indianapolis may be interested... On Wednesday, June 10, Scecina Memorial High School will host Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball, along with the entire boys and girls Indiana All-Star teams for a meet and greet session starting at 6 pm.
Kipp Schutz may just be a red shirt sophomore on paper, but on the diamond he's an all-tournament player, an All-Big Ten star and another Hoosier who continues to bring awards to the IU name. Schutz, who went 5-for-7 during IU's two NCAA tournament games, was named to the All-Louisville Regional team today. Leading the team with a .392 batting average, Schutz finished third in the Big Ten.
Just came across this minutes ago online and I don't think there has been anything mentioned about this yet (especially since dates, cost and specific location are TBA)... But get ready for DJ White Hoosier Stars Basketball Camp.
Tom Crean says he is a bit behind in 2010 recruiting. If he gets five-star "dynamic" point guard Kyrie Irving, all will be forgotten. Irving, a 6-foot-1 high school junior at St.
That's right, ESPN's senior writer and our neighbor to the south (Forde calls Louisville home) will join myself, Chris Korman of the Hoosier Scoop and Alex from Inside the Hall for another of our biweekly live chats, beginning at 7:30 in the p.m. Be there, and we will speak and be merry.
IU's season ended in the fifth inning of the Louisville Regional. The Hoosiers lost 10-0 to Vanderbilt, eliminating them from the NCAA tournament.
IU rushed the mound in jubilation after its first Big Ten win since 1996. Now, it is facing the realities of postseason play. The Hoosiers' first trip to the NCAA Regional in 13 years began with an 8-2 loss Friday against Louisville.
The third and fourth innings were dominated by the pitchers who didn't allow scores. However, it was the bottom of the fifth inning where IU faltered. Arnett forced Louisville into a fly ball to first base where first baseman Jerrud Sabourin misread a ball and committed a costly error.
The first inning saw only one hit tallied, as both pitchers controlled the action from the mound. Junior Eric Arnett didn't allow a hit in his first inning, while Louisville's Just Marks only let one touch base. The offensive output of both teams picked up in the second inning.
Junior ace Eric Arnett's work on the mound this season has been recognized by many, and now, he has another award to show for his efforts. Arnett was announced as a Louisville Slugger Second Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper today.
In case you haven't seen (or heard), Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade was wearing IU basketball shorts in an commercial for ESPN/ABC's National Spelling Bee. As posted on IUHoosiers.com, this was some "unexpected publicity" for IU by Wade, a former standout for Marquette under Tom Crean. "I wish I could take credit for it but I cant," Tom Crean posted on Twitter this afternoon.
