An All-American.

The honor hangs up with the championship rings and the history-smashing records.

Designated hitter Alex Dickerson can hang the the title on his wall, as he was named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.

The honor goes along with Dickerson's Big Ten Freshman of the Year award and second team all-conference choice. The Poway, Calif. native is the first Hoosier to take home the Freshman of the year title.

It's no wonder the young freshman raked in the post-season honors, batting the clean-up spot for the Hoosier line-up in 57 out of 59 games. Dickerson finished with a .370 average slotting him eighth in the conference.

The left-hander led all Big Ten freshmen with 14 home runs and 57 RBI. His homers set a freshman record while his RBI were one short of the Hoosier mark for a rookie.

A few more of the freshman's numbers:

.618 slugging percentage

88 hits

15 doubles

147 total bases

all in the conference's top 10. The rookie also led the conference freshman in batting average, RbI, hits, total bases, and long balls.

Dickerson will be spending his summer with Hoosier teammate Blake Monar playing with Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod baseball league.
