Kipp Schutz may just be a red shirt sophomore on paper, but on the diamond he's an all-tournament player, an All-Big Ten star and another Hoosier who continues to bring awards to the IU name.

Schutz, who went 5-for-7 during IU's two NCAA tournament games, was named to the All-Louisville Regional team today.

Leading the team with a .392 batting average, Schutz finished third in the Big Ten. Over the 44-game season, he went 56-128, a .438 average. The sophomore also had 28 runs and 25 RBI, with six doubles, 3 home runs and 14 walks.

Prior to playing baseball for the Hoosiers, Schutz was seen on the floor of Assembly Hall for the men's basketball program, where he scored 109 points over the last two months of the season.

This season Schutz was part of the first Hoosier baseball team to win a Big Ten championship since 1996.
