Drama, a bit of flesh sells

·

The year's reality-show craze finally concluded as CBS' "Big Brother" concluded last week. The show was obviously no match to the ratings of "Survivor" and the critical acclaim of "The 1900 House" and "American High." On the other hand, it never sunk to the depth of "Making the Band," "The Real World" and "Road Rules." If ABC renewed "Making the Band" for a second season, you knew that "Big Brother" wasn't doing badly after all. In fact, its season finale managed to beat the ratings of the Olympics telecast.

It'll never happen to me

·

I had finished a management training course with a fast food chain, a job I didn't want to have in a new home city. I thought I had left that job behind in Ohio, when I moved east with my boyfriend. For our purposes, his name is Al, and my name is Mark.

Lawsuit has substance

I am writing this in response to Walda and Hertzler's comments in "Lawyer says he will file lawsuit against University Monday" (IDS, Sept. 29). I am a plaintiff.

A little bit of sechel

·

I have chosen a title for my column called "a little bit of sechel," meaning a little bit of common sense. Perhaps it's a Jewish thing, or perhaps it's that I tend to see the world in a different way than most people (well, all people, since I am the only one of me).
