Dreams come true for Moose’s newest owner

·

Since 1933, a small brown building adorned with a lighted moose head has drawn Bloomington crowds for homemade ice cream served through a window. The Chocolate Moose attracts lines of customers every year, and seeing Bloomington residents lined up for hand-dipped or soft-serve ice cream any night of the week is to be expected.

Racism in a post-Obama world

·

Last week, former President Jimmy Carter smacked the five-ton elephant in the room square on the ass. Ever since Barack Obama was elected president, some have naively suggested that his election was the sign that America had finally moved past its race issues.

GOP health care fantasies

Rep. Charles Boustany was in an unenviable position when he had to give the Republican rebuttal to President Obama’s health care address. Opposition responses are always dull and do few favors for the politicians giving them.

Lucky charms

·

Last spring, I took a leave of absence from the IDS to study abroad in Ireland. There were a lot of European cities I considered traveling to, and many factors to consider. Paris has baguettes and romance, Milan has pasta and fashion and Dublin has alcohol and pots of gold. Sadly, the first things that might come to our minds when imagining another country are strange, unrealistic stereotypes.
