While the summer may be quiet for Indiana men's basketball, the Hoosiers announced that the team will participate in an exhibition match against Canadian school Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on July 15 to prepare them for the FISU America Games.
This marks Indiana's third exhibition match for its preseason slate, with other matches against North Carolina and Western Kentucky already on the calendar for Oct. 18 and Oct. 25, respectively.
The FISU America Games is a multi-sport event held every two years among countries in the Americas. This year, the competition of 14 sports will be held in Lima, Peru, from July 20 to August 2. This is the first time Indiana has been chosen to represent the United States at the FISU America Games.
Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf is a secondary and post-secondary school in Montréal, Quebec. Their most recent game was played on March 21 when the team walked away with a 62-61 victory over Vancouver Island University, winning the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
Indiana is led by head coach Darian DeVries. Sophomore forward Trent Sisley is the most prominent returner from last season, which concluded when the Hoosiers fell to Northwestern 61-74 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Indiana also brings seven transfers and four new recruits to complete their roster, one of whom was the ACC scoring leader.
Tickets for the game will go on sale June 29 at 10 a.m. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
