In today's edition of the IDS, we gave some recognition to two guys who had big first games for IU. I spent a good 10 minutes talking to Hoosiers' tight end Ted Bolser this week and wrote a story about what he can provide for the offense this year.

You know it's almost fall when basketball stories are popping up in the IDS. That's why I'm here with this shameless self-promotion giving you the IU recruiting information up to 2012 (with a sprinkle of 2014) in a nut shell. In researching and compiling all the information, it was evident just how special the 2012 class could be for IU.
Via his Twitter account, IU sophomore guard Maurice Creek wants everyone to check out his mixtape, welcoming him back to action. Just a quick browse through the vast Internet found similar videos for freshman guard Victor Oladipo, recent commit Peter Jurkin and prospect Hanner Perea. It is in fact that slow of a news day.
In today's issue of the IDS, I wrote about the cupcake tour that is the first week of the college football season. To clarify, this column was not directed only at IU , but rather college football as a whole.
Great sports reads in today's IDS. Nathan Hart catches up with Indiana Pacers play-by-play announcer Mark Boyle as he passes through Bloomington during his 500-mile "Wish Walk" throughout Indiana to raise money for the Indiana Children's Wish Fund. Junior forward Will Bruin recorded his first career hat trick in the men's soccer team's 5-1 upset of No.
The Hoosiers beat Towson 51-17 in Thursday night's opener. OK, that's old news. The question is: What does it mean? It's difficult to take too much from a game against an FCS team like Towson, but in my Friday column, is noted some lessons that could persist throughout the season. Perhaps the most alarming thing from Thursday's game was IU's defense, or lack thereof.
After a 5-1 upset of No. 5 UCLA, the men's soccer team finished their first weekend of play with a 1-1 record.
