Nicolas Winding Refn, films to visit IU Cinema

Blood, guts and gore are making their way toward IU Cinema Sept. 13 and 14 with their creator, Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn. Refn’s lecture, called a “Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Lecture” will be Friday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m., and his focus will mainly be on the work of Andy Milligan.

Artist Talia Halliday presented handmade goods at Gathering, a one-day pop-up shop that ran all day Aug. 24 at Blueline Gallery. The show featured works from 35 regional artists, as well as local food and music outside.

Grant Street Jazz Fest was kicked off by a parade late Saturday morning and continued on through the evening. Among the performers were the Postmodern Jazz Quartet, the Trio Collective and Mitch Shiner & the Bloomingtones Big Band.
