Building Corporation approves Morrison as newest member

The board of directors of the IU Building Corporation — an organization created in 2008 that assists the University in financing the construction of facilities — met on Tuesday and approved Vice President for Capital Projects and Facilities Thomas Morrison as a member of the board.

Associate professor traveling to Norway for research

IU School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation associate professor Joseph Chen will be traveling to the Arctic to study the social impact of tourism in Norway after receiving a $275,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.

Kahn’s comeback culminates with award

Diving again was all junior Cassidy Kahn wanted. But during the past year, she has gotten more than that. Kahn’s accomplishments reached their peak for the 2009-10 season when she was awarded the 2010 Thomas A. Brady Comeback Award last week. The award is given to someone who overcame adversity or injury and returned to excel beyond expectations in their respective sport.

Clausen’s past puts him rightfully below Tebow

About a year-and-a-half ago, it was Tim Tebow standing at the podium, pledging to push his team harder than no one ever had in the past ­— to work harder than anyone ever had. And this past Friday, it was again Tebow at the podium pledging to the world.  Although this time, it was pledging to do something much more challenging than working hard or speaking louder — playing quarterback in the NFL.

Alumni law magazine receives gold award

The IU School of Law-Indianapolis won a Gold award in the 25th-annual Educational Advertising Awards competition for its 2009 alumni magazine/dean’s report for the school. The publication has received three additional national awards in the past 18 months.

Fashion design to launch new major program

For the past 20 years IU students have been using the Individualized Major Program to obtain a bachelor’s degree in fashion design, but that process could become a lot easier. Fashion design could be an official major within the next few years.

The School of Education announced six Martha Lea and Bill Armstrong Teacher Educators. All are Indiana public school teachers and will be a part of professional development opportunities as well as work with IU faculty and students in multiple ways including courses, panel discussions and research projects.

Woman says ex-boyfriend hit her with Chihuahua

On Saturday morning, Bloomington Police were dispatched to the 500 block of South Lincoln Street in response to a female complainant who informed police that her ex-boyfriend had attempted to forcibly remove her from the residence and four days previously had thrown her pet Chihuahua at her head.
