With the No. 9 University of Alabama’s 34-24 first round victory over the No. 8 University of Oklahoma on Friday, Indiana football will take on the Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl Game on Jan. 1 in Pasadena, California.
Alabama redshirt junior quarterback Ty Simpson completed 18 of his 29 pass attempts for 232 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Crimson Tide to victory. Simpson connected with freshman wide receiver Lotzeir Brooks for 79 yards and both scores through the air.
Now, the Crimson Tide travel to Pasadena, California, to face the Hoosiers, who have not played since their 13-10 Big Ten title victory over Ohio State on Dec. 6.
While Indiana and Alabama have never faced each other, the programs have shared coaching history. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti previously served as the Crimson Tide’s wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator from 2007-10. Meanwhile, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer spent one season as the Hoosiers’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2019.
The two programs will meet for the first time in the Rose Bowl, which will kick off at 4 p.m. EST Jan. 1 in Pasadena, California. The game will be televised on ESPN.
