The board of directors of the IU Building Corporation — an organization created in 2008 that assists the University in financing the construction of facilities — met on Tuesday and approved Vice President for Capital Projects and Facilities Thomas Morrison as a member of the board.
Morrison will replace Vice President for University Regional Affairs, Planning and Policy John Applegate, who was appointed to IUBC in March of 2010 when former Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Terry Clapacs retired.
IU spokesman Larry MacIntyre said it was not clear who should take Clapacs’ place. Since Morrison is serving as the vice president, who is in charge of the University’s capital projects, MacIntyre said he deserves to be a board member.
Because Applegate has some other responsibilities that are not related to capital construction, MacIntyre said he will not be involved with IUBC.
