Minnesota's Joseph suspended for IU game

Minnesota guard Devoe Joseph has been suspended for the second time this season and will not play against IU on Tuesday night, Golden Gophers coach Tubby Smith said Monday. Joseph, who averages 11.3 points per game this season, was previously suspended for the first six games of the season for a violation of team rules and academic issues. "Devoe wasn't at practice for the last couple of days but that's the only issues that we've had so far," Smith said to the Star Tribune in Minneapolis.

A source with knowledge of the situation said IU wide receiver Damarlo Belcher will return to the Hoosiers for his senior season. The source said Belcher was estimated to go in a "good round" after sending in his papers for the NFL Draft.

Brent Pease hired as IU Offensive Coordinator

Another piece of the new IU football coaching staff was put into place Tuesday afternoon, as former Boise State assistant head coach/wide receivers coach, Brent Pease was hired as the Hoosier's new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Inside the box score: Analyzing five-man rotations (part I)

IU coach Tom Crean has used 186 five-man rotations this season. Of those, 46 have spent at least three minutes on the court together, and nine have been on the court for at least ten minutes. The important part, then, is to find out which lineups are working, which players are playing in the most effective lineups, and which players and lineups are struggling. Easier said than done.
