Happy New Year to all-and welcome to Lucas Oil Stadium. With the New Year comes the NFL Playoffs, and the second game slated for the weekend could not have been setup any better. The Indianapolis Colts (10-6) had their way with the New York Jets (11-5) in a 30-17 win in last year's AFC Championship Game. That was, however, after the Jets topped the Colts on December 27th in the the infamous sitting-the-starters game, in which the Colts passed on an almost too realistic shot at perfection.
Tonight should be interesting to say the least. The Colts are banged up, and everyone and their mother knows it. What in my mind is more important is the fact that Peyton Manning is not on that lengthy list. Rex Ryan admitted it that it's personal between he and Peyton Manning for him. After all, Manning cost Ryan's Baltimore Ravens a shot at the Super Bowl in 2006 in addition to last season's conference title win.
We'll learn a lot about the Jets tonight; such as whether or not they can back their coach's talk that has been going on since August. If the Jets can leave Indianapolis with a win, look for the same type of momentum to carry them deep into the playoffs that propelled them into January last season.
Meanwhile, here's the Colts' injury list (all 53 players on the Jets' active roster practiced this week...yes it's true):
LB Clint Session
OL Ryan Diem
OL Jamie Richard
RB Javaris James
DB Al Afalava
OL Jaimie Thomas
OL Joe Reitz
DL Antonio Johnson
DB Kelvin Hayden-IR
