Rain, rain go away
Tomorrow's weather forecast is looking kind of grim. I talked to Race Coordinator Matthew Ewing yesterday, and he said if track conditions are poor Qualifications will be moved to Sunday.

Friday's game with the Mastodons was cancelled due to some bad weather arriving in Bloomington. The game will not be made up. Barring more lousy weather conditions tomorrow, the Hoosiers will play at 1 p.m.
Hey, My name is Jacob Stewart and I'll be providing commentary on this year's Little 500 and surrounding policies.
IU opens its three-game set with the IPFW Mastodons today at 3 p.m. at Sembower Field. You can check out Lee's preview story here. The Hoosiers (8-8) will send sophomore right-hander Tyler Tufts (2-2, 3.10 ERA) to the mound in game one.
It was confirmed to me this morning that freshman outfielder Kipp Schutz is out for the season after breaking his collarbone in the March 6 game against Indiana State. There was a chance he could come back for the last week or two of the season, but he would not be at full strength.
Twenty new players on the team, two key injuries, a 16-inning epic in Florida, and an eight-game spring break road trip.
As March rolls to an end, the IU baseball team begins to pick up steam. The Hoosiers are coming off an eight-game road trip in Florida that lasted the duration of spring break.
It was so nice outside today (upper 70s, sunny, just beautiful). I guess you can't ask for much more on the first full day of spring. It was so nice in fact, I thought I'd give you all a little treat.
As most of you already know, IU's loss to UCLA last Saturday marked the end of the road in the careers of Earl Calloway, Rod Wilmont and Errek Suhr.
Welcome to the first ever post on The Inside Pitch. If the incredibly cliche headline to this post, the title of the blog and the banner haven't given you an idea what we're going to do here, let me explain. Our goal with this blog is to give you, the reader, more coverage of IU baseball than you thought possible.
Today Mike and I went out to the track for the first time to watch practice. Mike immediately recognized that the bleacher layout will be different this year.
Greetings and thanks for checking out the inagural post of the Little 500 blog which we have titled "Blogging Away." (A little cheesy, I know, but it gets the job done.) For those of you new to Little 5, the title is in reference to the 1979 Oscar-winning movie "Breaking Away." Enough with the history lesson.
It might have been easier if the Hoosiers had simply gone away. The IU fans in the stadium, forced into silence by the Hoosiers' historically awful first-half scoring output, could have stayed quiet.
POSTGAME: Despite a late second-half surge from IU - a push that brought IU back from a 12 point deficit - the Hoosiers lose in Sacramento tonight, 54-49. IU fought back late and tied the game at 49 with under a minute remaining.
Any IU-UCLA game is going to be surrounded - and perhaps suffocated - by the cloud of tradition. John Wooden's 11 titles, Bob Knight's hundreds of wins, Bill Walton, Isiah Thomas, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Quinn Buckner.
I don't know if using the word "vintage" to describe a third-place team from a mediocre conference is a misnomer or not, but tonight, IU had a "vintage" performance. The Hoosiers defended well.
Alright folks, the game is almost here, and we're off to cover it. Wireless internet is $30 a day in Arco Arena (outrageous!) as opposed to $10 in the Hyatt, which means we won't be updating the blog until after the game when we get back to the hotel, and I can't check NCAA scores during timeouts.
Yesterday the media extravaganza began for the NCAA Tournament. Eamonn and I were out at Arco Arena where the usual press conferences were held for coach Kelvin Sampson and the three leaders (DJ, Rod and Earl), but the team also opened up its locker room for player interviews.
It's likely already 9 or 10 where you are, but out here on the West Coast we just finished up with press conferences and a brief practice on the eve of the Hoosiers' first round NCAA match up with No.
For those of you out there checking things out, here's a quick heads up for when to expect a post tomorrow. I'm leaving very early this morning.
