It was confirmed to me this morning that freshman outfielder Kipp Schutz is out for the season after breaking his collarbone in the March 6 game against Indiana State.

There was a chance he could come back for the last week or two of the season, but he would not be at full strength. The coaching staff will likely pursue a medical redshirt so he can retain his eligibility.

This news comes just one day after IU coach Tracy Smith said junior pitcher Chris McCombs will be lost for the season because of Tommy John surgery.
