Final Score: IU 99 Chattanooga 79 --- 3:17 Remaining in the 2nd Half IU leads 96-75. Eric Gordon with 32 points and several assists, including one to Bassett just before the TV time-out.

IU 8th in AP, ESPN polls

IU rose to eighth in the most recent editions of the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls. They each got bumped up one spot to take Michigan State's place in the Top 10.

The Student Section Debate Continues

Today we received an e-mail with this link to a website titled "Take Back Assembly Hall: The Indiana Student Movement." The creators of the website want a more respectable student section at Assembly Hall. When you go to the site, Twisted Sister's "We're Not Going to Take it" is playing.

Bailey named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week

IU's 67-59 victory over Albany on Saturday might appear a little bit deceiving for a couple of reasons: -IU shot 0-14 from 3-point range, something Felisha Legette-Jack said will get better.

Sears, Starr Earn Academic All-District Recognition

The word for word press release... BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior fullback Josiah Sears and junior kicker Austin Starr earned first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V honors as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible for the award a player must be in at least his second year of athletic eligibility, be a first team or key performer and carry a cumulative 3.20 grade point average. Sears, a fifth-year senior finance major, collects his first all-district honor.

Lunch with Gene Keady and Steve Lavin

I had wanted to post this awhile back, but with the Ice Miller Report and the Tyler Zeller saga, there has been a lot of news surrounding the Hoosiers the past couple of weeks. At Big 10 Media Day, Michael and I were grabbing some lunch at the hotel where they had set up a complementary lunch for the media-types.

Starr a semifinalist for Lou Groza Award

Junior kicker Austin Starr is one of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, which is given annually to the nations top place kicker. Starr is 17-18 (94.4 percent) this year and has drilled 14 field goals in a row.

Looking ahead to the Showtime Skins

I have no idea why there is a traveling Australian team coming to Assembly Hall tomorrow night to take on the Hoosiers, but it is not for me to know, I guess. A few quick notes about Saturday and tomorrow that I expounded upon in an article I wrote that will run in tomorrow's paper: -Coach Jack said she thinks the Skins will be a shooting team, and she said the team worked on some looks the Hoosier Lady Stars threw at them offensively they weren't ready for.
