The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning around 7 p.m. Sunday for Monroe County, Morgan County and Owen County, initially effective until 7:45 p.m.

At 7:08 p.m., radar indicated a rotation in a severe thunderstorm near Spencer moving east at 35 mph. The NWS warned the storm could produce a tornado, with flying debris causing potential damage and destruction to homes and vehicles.

Communities in the storm’s path include Spencer, Gosport, Stinesville, McCormick’s Creek State Park, Devore and Quincy. The NWS urged residents in the warned areas to take shelterimmediately.

At 7:43 p.m., the NWS canceled the warning, saying the threat had diminished, with a tornado and flash flood watch in effect until midnight. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for the area, with large hail and damaging winds still likely for the area, including Bloomington.
