Season's Greetings from Above the Rim

Happy Holidays to everyone!!! Including the IU women's basketball team who will be back in Bloomington tomorrow to practice in preparation for their match up against Michigan State on Monday. Win River: Where does Jeremiah fit?

Just caught ESPN's Stan Verrett in a wrongsie -- ESPN showed Doc Rivers' younger son, Austin, dropped 46 on Wheeler High School (Marietta, Ga.) in a interstate showdown, and Verrett said he thought Rivers' other son, Jeremiah, was in the NBDL. Anyway, it got me thinking about what Jeremiah Rivers' impact would be were he playing (for IU, not the Fort Wayne Mad Antz). It occurred to me that Rivers, touted by just about everybody within the program as a mentally strong and natural leader, would have been a good antidote for the Hoosiers on Monday. It felt at times like IU players were going through the motions, lacking much urgency or intensity against a lesser opponent that had challenged them physically and otherwise, something Tom Crean attributed to a lack of good practices over the last week.

7 in a row

So the question seems to be with the success the Hoosiers have had to start the season (7 game winning streak) will this carry over to wins in the conference portion of their schedule.

Tuesday rundown: IU-Northeastern

As promised. Wack stat(s) of the game: The Hoosiers shot the exact same percentage -- 40 -- in the first and second halves, only getting six free throws all game. Heard from Assembly Hall: "There was one aggressive team on the floor tonight, and it wasn't Indiana." -- Tom Crean "We need to come back to work after break and make sure this never happens again." -- Kyle Taber Final word: This was what it was: an upset against a team IU clearly should have beaten.

Northeastern 55 -- IU 42

This one just wasn't pretty. The Hoosiers struggled mightily offensively, shooting just 40 percent from the field and turning the ball over 21 times. IU jumped out to a 12-3 lead at the 15:14 mark, but things changed from there.
