This is a very interesting story about a women's basketball player who seemed to have everything gong right for her, but deep inside things were far from perfect. It is about Elena Delle Donne, the 2008 Naismith National High School Basketball Player of the Year.

Delle Donne was at the top of her game and off to the number one college basketball team when she decided she was done. Convinced she didn't have the passion for the game she left UCONN at 2 a.m. in the morning (only after 2 days there) and transferred to the University of Delaware to play volleyball.

To many people including me it is shocking to see a player so good just give up the game so abruptly. Elena insists though she started feeling like basketball was more work than fun at age 13. Often times the word burnout is discussed and the question of how hard parents should push their kids into sports. In this case though, the kid was the one pushing her parents to help her. Maybe the parents should have done a better job to realize their daughter was not having fun. It is sad to see this happen, but also good to see she is doing better and able to cope with the situation. I think how she finally stepped up and showed some bravery and courage in a difficult situation will help her in the long run.
