Examining a weakness: Shot selection

Wednesday's overtime loss to Michigan left a bitter taste in even the mildest of Hoosier fans' mouths. Imagine how Tom Crean felt. "It's an unbelievably tough pill to swallow right now," Crean said as he swished the words around his mouth.

Breaking down a breakdown

Hey folks, It was a close thing tonight inside Assembly Hall, and probably one of the harder losses Hoosier fans will have had to take in the last few years, all things considered.

Means declares for NFL Draft

In a move that should surprise few, Andrew Means has declared for the 2009 NFL Draft. Means, a redshirt junior and former U center fielder now in the Cincinnati Reds' organization, came back to IU for one more year of football. There were many last spring who said quietly that Means could have a professional future in football to go along with the obvious one in baseball, and it appears he will test those waters between now and April. Means has a three-year contract with the Reds, but it won't prevent him from playing professional football to my knowledge should the opportunity arise.

Hulls scores 26 in win over Center Grove

Hit town at about 6:45 p.m. yesterday, and I was less than two minutes late for the 7:30 p.m. I'm a superhero, no need to tell me. My overdeveloped sense of vanity aside, this was my first Jordan Hulls experience -- one I shared with H-T reporters Chris Korman and Hugh Kellenberger and IDS columnist Chris Engel -- and I thought I'd offer some initial thoughts on the game, a 99-52 South victory over Center Grove.

In an effort to add even more variety to our coverage we are going to attempt to have some guests posts by people offering insight into the Hoosiers/ women's basketball.

5 things to keep in mind...

The first time I ever saw the Hoosiers practice was in high school. Assembly Hall tends to be pretty quiet when games aren't going on with the exception of basketballs being dribbled, sneakers squeaking and coaches barking orders.

Tom Crean does not have a case of the Mondays

I'm not much of a morning person, which is why I've always been grateful most sporting events I cover are held following sunset. Nevertheless, I woke up this morning to hear IU coach Tom Crean answer questions for about 15 minutes on the Big Ten's weekly coaches teleconference.

Undefeated unattainable? Unlikely.

Hey folks, Heading back up to Hoosierland tomorrow morning, but for now I'm still down here in the Capital of the South, and I just came across the news that North Carolina went down today to a surprising Boston College team.
