Pagan, Jones downgraded to out for season opener

Just days away from the season opener, the Hoosiers are now going to be without two starters. Guard Justin Pagan and corner back Donnell Jones, both questionable last week, have been downgraded to out for Thursday's matchup with Eastern Kentucky. Taking over for Pagan is redshirt freshman Marc Damisch, and sophomore Chris Adkins is taking Jones' spot. The offensive line and defensive backfield are the last places the Hoosiers want to see injuries occur, as scratches all over the board in those positions caused much of the team's struggles last year. Is there reason to be concerned for Week 1, Hoosier fans?

Poole pushes back visit plans

UPDATE: Poole has told Jody Demling of the Courier-Journal (Louisville) he is planning his visit to IU for the 18th and then headed to Kentucky the 19th for their football game. Inside Indiana is reporting that Stacey Poole is moving his visits to IU and Kentucky back. The No.

Hoosiers captains named for season opener

As the IU football team prepares for their season opening matchup with Easter Kentucky on Thursday, head coach Bill Lynch has announced on his radio show the four team captains for Week 1: QB Ben Chappell, OT Rodger Saffold, DE Jammie Kirlew, and LB Will Paterson. Lynch said he and his team will select new game captains each week this season, and at the end of the year, the players will vote for who should be named honorary captain for the 2009 season. Attention radio listeners: Hoosiers opener will air on 93.1 FM

For those of you planning to get your Hoosiers football fix via the radio airwaves, there is something that should be brought to your attention. This from the IU athletics department: Due to a scheduling conflict with the Indianapolis Colts' preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Indiana football team's season opener will air on WIBC 93.1 FM in Indianapolis on Thursday, Sept.

Creek cleared to play

Mack, Reeves suspended for Week 1

Breaking news from the IU atheltics department: Indiana head coach Bill Lynch has announced that defensive lineman Deonte Mack and linebacker Ian Reeves have been suspended for the season opener against Eastern Kentucky for a violation of team rules.

Stacey Poole, the No. 27 recruit in the 2010 class according to Rivals.com, recently announced he will be officially visiting Bloomington in early September. Poole told Evan Daniels of Scout.com he would visit IU Sept.

Teammate of Williams has IU in final three

The Indy Star is reporting that Brandon Mobley, a three-star recruit and teammate of IU commit for the class of 2010 David Williams, has IU on his final list of schools. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Mobley played with Williams on the Atlanta Celtics.

Knight heads up 2009 IU athletics hall of fame class

Former IU basketball coach Bob Knight will be inducted into the university's athletics Hall of Fame nearly a decade after he was fired for violating a zero-tolerance policy imposed by then-IU President Myles Brand. Indiana announced Knight's selection Saturday.
