Insight into the Moses Abraham decision

After talking to Moses Abraham on the phone last night, I spent a good deal of time trying to contact his guardian, Joe Boncore, to find out the main reason he chose Georgetown over IU. Abraham had a hard time answering that question himself and I never did get a hold of Boncore. Boncore called me back a little while ago and we hand a lengthy conversation about the decision process.

Future basketball player receives awards

Senior guard Andrea Newbauer recently received two prestigious honors as she was named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-State team and will play for the Indiana All-Star team.

IU 2011 commit Matt Carlino reopens recruitment

Bloomington High School South junior Matt Carlino, who committed to play basketball for IU in August of 2008, decided to reopen his recruitment Thursday, according to reports from Mike Pegram of Inside Indiana, IU's affiliate for Rivals.com. "I re-opened my recruitment today," Carlino told Pegram.

Abraham commits to Georgetown

Moses Abraham, a 6-9 240 lb. forward from Maryland, committed to Georgetown today after returning home from a two-day visit at IU. Abraham, who was also recruited by Tennessee, Maryland and UCLA, said he made one of the most difficult choices of his life in choosing Georgetown over IU. "Both Indiana and Georgetown are very good schools with very good basketball programs," Abraham said in a phone interview.

Moses Abraham Update - Thursday

****Updated 11:14 a.m. Thursday**** There has been a rumor going around on some of the other blog sites that Abraham already had his decision made before he came to Bloomington and only made the trip as a formality to appease IU and coach Tom Crean. I asked Abraham's guardian, Joe Boncore, about that this morning and he said the rumor is completely false. "And that is what coach (John) Thompson says," Boncore said.

IU softball lost to Louisville 11-0

The Hoosiers (6-19) weren't able to come up with an answer against No. 23 Louisville, as they lost 11-0 in Bloomington. The Hoosiers continue their losing streak to 10 games. Senior catcher Melissa Roth went two for three with a two run homer in the top of the 4th inning. The Cardinals had 12 hits in the game. The Hoosiers were only able to get three hits in the game against the Cardinals pitching. The Hoosiers look to end the 10 game losing streak at Indiana State on Monday March 30.

Hoosiers jump in latest rankings

The IU men's tennis team jumped from 47th to 40th in the latest edition of the ITA rankings this week. The Hoosiers (9-3) boast their highest ranking of the year in large part because of their three road wins last week over Cleveland State, Central Florida and Fairleigh Dickinson. IU will open the Big Ten season this weekend when it travels to Wisconsin to take on the No.

IU Softball plays No. 23 Louisville today

Today, the Hoosiers (6-18) face the No. 23 Louisville Cardinals (19-10) at 4 PM ET in Bloomington. The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 9-2. Senior outfielder Jennifer Glueckert went 5-for-9 at the plate with a pair of doubles in the past three games.

Little 500 quals schedule released

Here's the schedule for this Saturday's qualification day at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Some highlights: 74 men's and women's teams will hit the track beginning at 8 am Saturday for their 4-lap attempt to qualify.

Bill Lynch presser notes

Lynch's thoughts -No. 1 goal going into the spring is figuring out his top 50 players. He said the spring will be competitive and he's excited to try some different things with scheme, positions, etc. -A few different tings this offseason include: splitting the team into 8 different teams, headed by the team's leadership council.

Hoosiers get gold at NCAA Championships

With three event finals still to come the Hoosiers currently sit in ninth place at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Senior Kate Fesenko was crowned national champion in the 200-backstroke just over an hour ago.

Leininger Dazzles Again

Drew Leininger remains stellar in the Hoosiers 10-3 win over Akron (10-8) on Saturday. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 26 innings, including six today.
