Indiana women’s basketball secured its second transfer portal recruit of the offseason Monday, as former Nebraska junior forward Jessica Petrie committed to the Hoosiers, according to an X post from On3’s Talia Goodman.

Petrie started 23 games and appeared in 30 contests for the Cornhuskers last season, averaging 11.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. The Gold Coast, Australia, native shot 44.9% from the field, 28.9% behind the 3-point arc and 76.7% from the free throw line.

The 6-foot-2 Petrie led the Cornhuskers in blocks per game and was second for rebounds per game. However, her field goal percentage ranked seventh and her mark from 3-point range was sixth for Nebraska.

Petrie recorded a season-high 20 points in Nebraska’s win over Samford University on Nov. 8. In her first matchup against Indiana last season, Petrie scored 18 points and hauled in seven rebounds in a 78-73 win over the Hoosiers on Jan. 8. She then produced a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-69 loss to Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament on March 4.

During the 2024-25 season, Petrie started 23 games and appeared in 33 contests for Nebraska. She averaged 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 20 minutes per game. During her freshman season in Lincoln, Nebraska, Petrie was a bench option for the Cornhuskers. She played in 35 games, averaging 10.6 minutes, 3.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

Before playing at Nebraska, Petrie was a member of the Australian National Team. She played for U16, U17, U18 and U19 teams in various competitions, including the 2022 and 2023 FIBA World Cups.

Indiana saw six Hoosiers enter the transfer portal, which opened April 6 and will close April 20. Freshman guard Nevaeh Caffey was the first former Indiana player to join a new team, committing to the University of Missouri on Sunday. Sophomore guards Phoenix Stotijn and Chloe Spreen, sophomore forward Faith Wiseman plus junior forwards Jade Ondineme and Edessa Noyan are still in the portal.

Alongside Petrie, former Iowa State forward Alisa Williams committed to the Hoosiers on April 6. Williams played in all 32 games for the Cyclones in the 2025-26 season, averaging 4.8 points per game as a redshirt junior.

Indiana also brings in ESPN’s No. 8 recruiting class with four new players. The class includes No. 28 wing Addison Nyemchek, No. 32 guard Gigi Battle, No. 64 guard Ashlinn James and four-star center Zoe Jackson.
