Indiana women’s basketball is slated to lose its fourth player to the transfer portal Friday, as sophomore guard Chloe Spreen plans to depart from the Hoosiers, according to an X post from On3’s Talia Goodman

Spreen, a Bedford, Indiana, native played just one season with the Hoosiers after transferring from the University of Alabama prior to the 2025-26 season. However, the 2024 Indiana Ms. Basketball and four-star high school recruit struggled to get playing time with both the Hoosiers and the Crimson Tide.

As a sophomore, Spreen made just 11 appearances — four of which were in Big Ten games — and averaged 4.5 minutes per contest. The 5-foot-10 Spreen played a season-high 16 minutes in the Hoosiers’ final nonconference game Dec. 21 against Western Carolina University. She recorded eight points, seven rebounds and three assists throughout the season.

During the 2024-25 season with the Crimson Tide, Spreen appeared in 20 contests and averaged 6.5 minutes per game. She averaged just 1.2 points and .5 rebounds.

Spreen joins sophomore forward Faith Wiseman, sophomore guard Phoenix Stotijn and junior forward Jade Ondineme as Hoosiers who intended to enter the transfer portal.

Indiana finished its season 18-14 overall and 6-12 in the Big Ten. It's set to bring in the No. 8 ranked recruiting class next season, according to ESPN. The class includes No. 28 wing Addison Nyemchek, No. 32 guard Gigi Battle, No. 64 guard Ashlinn James and four-star center Zoe Jackson.
