Indiana women’s basketball is poised to lose its fifth player to the transfer portal. Junior forward Edessa Noyan plans to enter the transfer portal, according to an X post from On3’s Talia Goodman on Monday.

Noyan appeared in all 32 games for the Hoosiers this season, starting 21 of those contests. She averaged 5.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game in her only season in Bloomington. Noyan finished the season shooting 55.1% from the field, 26.9% behind the 3-point arc and 67.6% at the free throw line.

The Botkyrka, Sweden, native played at the University of Virginia for the first two seasons of her collegiate career. In her freshman season, Noyan played in 28 games for the Cavaliers, averaging 2.9 points in 13.6 minutes per game.

The 6-foot-3 forward then saw an increase in playing time in her sophomore season in Charlottesville, Virginia. Noyan saw action in 26 games — starting 23 contests — producing 5.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game.

After transferring to Indiana, Noyan was set to play bench minutes behind sophomore forward Zania Socka-Nguemen. However, injuries to Socka-Nguemen forced Noyan into a starting role in the Hoosiers’ lineup.

After coming off the bench in Indiana’s first seven games, Noyan started nine contests between Nov. 30 and Jan. 4, with Socka-Nguemen out of the lineup or playing limited minutes. Noyan was moved back to the bench for the following four games before starting the final 12 contests of the Hoosiers’ season.

In Noyan’s 21 games in the starting lineup, she averaged 7.4 points and seven rebounds in 27.4 minutes per game. During Indiana’s 20 Big Ten games — regular season and postseason — Noyan produced 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds while playing 25.1 minutes per contest. Her season-high of 18 points came in a 72-65 win against Oregon on Feb. 22.

Noyan joins sophomore forward Faith Wiseman, sophomore guards Phoenix Stotijn and Chloe Spreen plus junior forward Jade Ondineme as Hoosiers who intend to enter the transfer portal.

Indiana finished the season 18-14 overall and 6-12 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers ended their season with an 83-59 loss to Ohio State in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on March 5.

Indiana is set to lose seven players this offseason — five players by means of the transfer portal and two via graduation. However, Indiana brings in ESPN’s No. 8 recruiting class with four new players. The class includes No. 28 wing Addison Nyemchek, No. 32 guard Gigi Battle, No. 64 guard Ashlinn James and four-star center Zoe Jackson.

The NCAA transfer portal officially opens April 6 and will remain open for a 15-day window until April 20.
