This poem tells the story of a Black woman coping with female infertility.
“I couldn’t help to think that this is what it means to be black.”
“I got my love for watching flames turn things to ash from you.”
“This year I declare everything back into my life as mine and no one else’s. Last year when I lost myself I found God in me. I know this body as secular now. Know that this body can take a beating and survive.”
Our fire be in the water that fell from the sky.
Black girl make it rain.
We be more than mourning bodies.
When blk women coin one another sis we recognizing a similar struggle.
You say blasphemy but expect black women to be savior.
"I got angels and they got me"
