After losing a rough battle to Kentucky on Friday, the IU women’s soccer team bounced back and finished the weekend with a dominating victory against Butler on Sunday.

The IU women’s soccer team is off to a quick start with two road wins — winning an exhibition and its season opener — in the past two weeks. But for head coach Mick Lyon and his players, the test continues with two more road games this weekend.

IU to play in Pink Zone on Sunday

Pink will take over Assembly Hall this Sunday, and no, it’s not Victoria’s Secret. Instead, the normally cream- and crimson-clad IU squad will don the lighter color to celebrate the Hoosiers’ annual Pink Zone game. This game offers the players a chance to take on a much fiercer opponent: breast cancer.

Defender named to second-team All-Region

IU women’s soccer senior defender Kelley Lawrence has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Second Team All-Region for an IU-record third time.

With Big Ten conference play on its final stretch, the No. 23 IU women’s soccer team (10-5-2, 2-4-2 Big Ten) suffered a pair of losses against Penn State and Ohio State on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.

IU challenged by Iowa in 2-0 win

For the seven seniors on the field Sunday, it was a Senior Day to remember. The Hoosiers (10-3-2, 2-2-2) were victorious in a 2-0 rout against Iowa, but the game was much more competitive than the score indicates. Both teams came out of the gates aggressively, but IU outshot the Hawkeyes 9-1 in the first half. The action didn’t start heating up until late in the second half. At which point, 18 different Hoosiers clocked time on the field.

IU to face Iowa, begin final stretch of season

Nearing their final stretch of conference play, the Hoosiers play five games in 13 days starting Sunday. The game’s are scheduled closely , however, back in September the team had four games in eight days, so they feel as if they’ve prepared for it.

No. 22 IU plays Michigan to a tie in 0-0 game

After 120 minutes of play that included two overtimes, IU was unable to find a way to score against a Michigan defense that frequently dropped back nine players. The tie pushed its record to 9-3-2 for the season and 1-2-2 in the Big Ten.
