Ellis, Bassett kicked off the team

Tuesday, April 1,2008 1:41 p.m.

IU director of media relations J.D. Campbell told the IDS this morning that sophomore guard Armon Bassett and Jamarcus Ellis have been officially let go from the team. Campbell did not give a reason for the dismissal. Campbell said he had no idea if a new head coach would reinstate the players. IU is expected to name a coach by Thursday or Friday of this week.  BLOG:  Basketblog

Sexually transmitted infection prevalence is up, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study. One in four females ages 14 to 19 have at least one of four common STIs: herpes, human papillomavirus, chlamydia and trichomoniasis, said Elizabeth Ann Chandler from the News Media Team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Furthermore, of the adolescent women with any STI, 15 percent have more than one, she added.

Ambulances need doctoring

When the Bloomington Hospital Ambulance Service needed to update their vehicles, the Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County class stepped forward to help. The class secured laptops so the vehicles would have better navigation. The service’s ambulances are out-of-date, said Maureen Gahan, one of six students involved in the class.
