Birth control costs to be paid by employer

Religious institutions in all states will soon be required to cover free birth control for employees, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently ruled. Most new and renewed health plans will begin covering contraceptives Aug. 1, 2012.

Six splendid days have passed since I finally stepped on the ship, and one port has already been crossed off the itinerary. Dominica — no, not the Dominican Republic — the country I was least excited and anxious to visit, had me head-over-heels in love. Trafficking bill signed into law

The idea that the content one views will be used by a company to target you for specific material was frightening and restrictive. Now, however, we are far less troubled by the collection of data about our lives. We lean toward indifference and even favor the idea, as it might allow for the information to better fit our needs.

Rethinking general education

As I listened to the lecturing grad student, who would have undoubtedly rather been some place else, discuss at great length something which I’m sure was terribly important to someone, this question floated through my mind: What is it, exactly, that I’m supposed to get out of this?

Excluding the legal-speak, which establishes the number and legitimacy of the bill, it is a terse 42-word proposal. It reads, “No person or entity shall manufacture or knowingly sell food or any other product intended for human consumption which contains aborted human fetuses in the ingredients or which used aborted human fetuses in the research or development of any of the ingredients.”
