WASHINGTON -- Two Air Force generals have been authorized to order the military to shoot down any civilian airliner that appears to be threatening U.S. cities, Pentagon officials said Thursday. He said he had crafted the new rules of engagement for military pilots with Gen. Henry H. Shelton, who is retiring as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Criticisms of America tiring

·

During our national tragedy, I have noticed many people throughout this country and the world express their sympathy and sorrow. It made me feel decent and good to be an American and a citizen of a world aligned against individual and state terrorists -- the scourge of civilization. But nothing has shocked me more than to hear people, mostly American citizens, say that we have brought this upon ourselves through our religious immorality or through conducting our foreign policy.

It's not all for the nookie

·

Taking the moral high road for perhaps the first time, Fred Durst, the frontman of Limp Bizkit, sat down with MTV News and said that in the wake of the Attack on America he is a changed man. Gone are the days of petty beef with Eminem, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and Christina, the girl for whom it was all for the Nookie. Now is the time when Durst has finally realized that his petty wars with other artists and ex-girlfriends mean nothing in the eyes of a country at war.

Big Ten Player of the Week

·

Junior forward Pat Noonan is a top candidate for the Hermann Trophy, which is awarded to collegiate soccer's National Player of the Year at the end of each season. "He's a proven player after two years," head coach Jerry Yeagley said. "But with (senior midfielder Ryan) Mack and (freshman forward) Ned Grabavoy out, I think he was pressing a little bit (at the beginning of the season). Now he's playing his game. He has a special ability to change the game by himself." Noonan was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, he also received the Fox 59 College Athlete of the Week. Last Thursday against Louisville, Noonan tallied two goals in a 4-0 shutout by the Hoosiers. It was his second career double-goal game, the first coming last season against Northwestern.
