Indiana Invitational halted by weather

On a day where teams were supposed to complete two rounds of golf in the two-day, 54-hole Indiana Invitational at Otter Creek Golf Course, high winds, heavy amounts of rain and thunder and lightning forced the IU women’s golf team and 14 other squads off the course for most of the day.

States to pass new anti-meth laws

A trend in Indiana and many other states is the use of over-the-counter medicines containing pseudoephedrine, such as Sudafed, to make methamphetamine. Some states have proposed bills that would require prescriptions for these medicines to help prevent the production of meth.

Storm knocks out power, floods campus

Monday, April 4,2011 12:18 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch was lifted at 1 p.m. today for Bloomington, according to the National Weather Service. Indiana Avenue between Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Street is flooded, along with much of Dunn Meadow near the same area, according to IU’s Twitter feed. Power is out on 10th Street from the 46 Bypass to Fee Lane. Campus buildings and traffic lights have been affected. Continue checking idsnews.com for updates.

Van Kooten earns second straight win

When the day began, no one would have picked Teter Cycling’s Caitlin Van Kooten as the repeat winner of the Spring Series event Miss-N-Out. It wasn’t because people doubted the senior, who placed first in the Individual Time Trials with a time of 2:39.41, but because Van Kooten’s name was not even on the schedule to compete.

Team looks to bounce back at Indiana Invitational after 15th-place showing

After finishing 15th Saturday in the MountainView Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., the team’s worst finish of the season, the IU women’s golf team will try to rebound as it is host to its lone tournament of the season Monday and Tuesday, the Indiana Invitational, at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.

Squad cruises to 2nd-place finish

Following a first-place finish in last year’s cup, IU finished second to nationally ranked Michigan State’s 120 points with a total of 100 while beating out Boston University and Gonzaga’s 78 and 62, respectively.
