“It has come to our attention that a number of IU students may have been offered a reward to vote in the form of a party to be sponsored by Buffa Louie’s,” Monroe County Democratic Party Chairman Rick Dietz said in a statement.
Ranked No. 4 nationally, returning All-American Matt Powless (197 pounds) placed first. Powless defeated Andrew Campolattano of Ohio State with a score of 5-2.
True freshman Brianna Johnson finished first among Hoosiers and third overall while redshirt freshman JR Ricker finished first in Friday’s Hoosier Invitational.
With 15 seconds left in the first half, neither IU nor Ohio State looked like it would put any goals on the board in the first 45 minutes.
The men’s swimming and diving team (2-2) went in to Ann Arbor, Mich., and lost against Michigan and Texas in a double-dual meet. The Hoosiers fell to Michigan, 216-84 and lost to Texas 217.5-82.5.
Adam Sarnecki, 22, died at 4:40 a.m. after surgery at IU Health Bloomington Hospital, Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer said.
The Hoosiers participated in the Western Michigan Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich. The team finished with five wins in singles play.
Struggles continued throughout the weekend for the IU women’s volleyball team as it lost to Northwestern and No. 5 Illinois, extending the losing streak to 16 games.
This year more than 1,600 dancers participated in IU Dance Marathon, and the event raised $1,801,207.20 for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, an all-time record.
Twenty-one years after the first dance marathon, some students who received medical attention from the Riley Hospital for Children now participate as dancers. Matt Parmenter, a freshman in Phi Gamma Delta who raised more money than any other dancer, is a Riley kid.
IU will be among 13 teams, including Texas Tech, Michigan and Xavier. Onion Creek is a par-70 course that had the first Senior PGA Tour event in 1978 and the LPGA Tour Event from 1999 to 2001.
The Hoosiers showed up on Saturday, and, for the first time in a number of weeks, they improved. They lost 34-20 to Ohio State, but they improved.

The Hoosiers won their first and only exhibition game, defeating the University of Indianapolis, 90-72, Saturday at Assembly Hall. IU was aided by a 50-point outburst in the first half, that allowed IU a double-digit lead the entire second half.
The crowd cheered every time freshman forward Cody Zeller touched the ball, wanting to see the 2011 Mr. Basketball in action. However, Zeller waited for his opportunities as the Hoosiers continued to build a double-digit first-half lead.
Traditional Native American attire, clothing and food were part of the event at the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, which was also the kick-off event for National American Indian Heritage Month at IU. The University has not hosted the pow wow since 2004.
