Crossroads Classic to remain in Indy through 2014

Following a successful debut in 2011, the athletic directors at Butler, Indiana, Notre Dame and Purdue universities have agreed to a two-year extension that will keep college basketball’s Crossroads Classic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis through 2014.

From the start of the economic crisis around 2008, there was talk that many of the “big banks” were too big. Regulators looked at banks like Bank of America, Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase and said the “too big to fail” idea wasn’t working, and that these banks were really “too big to manage.”

You see, as someone who reads an unhealthy amount of political news, I find it pretty easy to disregard controversy as the media’s latest hissy fit — the histrionics of an increasingly irrelevant system. But last week’s report in the New York Times detailing the Ricketts Plan — a $10 million “super PAC” ad campaign proposed to billionaire Joe Ricketts that aimed to use state-of-the-art visual effects and high production values to directly tie the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to President Obama — actually made me mad.

Kelley executive education program ranks high

The Financial Times has ranked Kelley Executive Partners, the executive education branch of the Kelley School of Business, among “the world’s leaders” for the past five years, and 2012 is no exception. Kelley was ranked 34th in the world, 13th among United States business schools, third among public universities and first in the Big 10.




Kinsey Art Show

Juried art show displays art work with sex themes

The Kinsey Institute threw an opening reception for its 7th Annual Juried Art Show from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Grunwald Gallery of Art. The show is on display until Saturday, July 21, and features contemporary works by artists from the United States and Canada who explore themes of gender, sexual identity, eroticism and sexuality.

Golf season ends at NCAA regional

The IU men’s golf team’s postseason tournament run came to an end at the NCAA Central Regional tournament Saturday, as the Hoosiers posted a 303 in the final round, 15 shots over par. Competition took place at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center East Course in Greensboro, N.C.

Man arrested for car theft, eluding police

Officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday after a witness reported a man crashed a vehicle into a telephone pole near the intersection of South Rockport Road and West Graham Drive.

Woman in auto crash charged with negligence

A Bloomington woman was arrested Saturday following a car crash. The woman allegedly told police investigating the accident that she had left her five children at home unattended.
