IU Libraries Moving Image Archive holds an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 commercials on film. These films can be used for research into gender studies, food policy, politics, film history, advertising and even economics.

The archive now has 80,000 to 100,000 new commercials, 200 new cameras and 44 new projectors.

Gail Hale shows a recycled fabric, picked up at a sorority house. Hale has been using recycled materials to create art objects ever since she was young. This fabric was used in a trashion fashion event in 2016.

Anonymous donor gifts $1.5 million for endowed African art studies chair

The Tanner-Opperman chair will be created in honor of Roy Sieber.

The Thomas Gallery will present “Sketchbook,” a collection of recent works by native Californian and 24-year Bloomington resident Kurt Larsen. His art is aimed at being small and affordable. Most of Larsen's work in "Sketchbook" is on sale for less than $50. The Thomas Gallery will exhibit the collection from 5 to 8 p.m. every Friday in January, or by appointment. The title of this work is "Nebulus".

Mat Whiteley, a masters student in his third year, works on a mural in the stairwell of Franklin Hall. Whiteley spent months working on his artwork, then printed it on giant stickers to put on the wall.

IU professor named Poet Laureate of Indiana

Professor Matejka will serve a two-year term as Poet Laureate of Indiana.

Karen Day’s new book “I’ll Stay,” will be published Jan. 30, 2018. Day is an Indiana native, and she graduated from IU in 1984 with degrees in journalism and English.
