'Freshmen' faculty members welcomed to campus

While it might be daunting for many freshmen to come to a university they have never known before, the same can be said for many professors who have just arrived at IU. They too have to learn the campus and services the University has to offer and meet new people.

Hoosiers place 6th in Gopher Invite

The Hoosiers hovered near the top of the leaderboard during the first two rounds of the Gopher Invitational in Wayzata, Minn., but a high score in Sunday's final round dropped them to a sixth-place finish.

IU places 7th in Lady Northern tourney

IU's youngsters continue to impress and exceed expectations in their inaugural season. All three of the IU women's golf team's freshmen once again proved their worth by taking three out of IU's top four spots at this weekend's Lady Northern Tournament in East Lansing, Mich.

IU wins Indiana Intercollegiates race

For the past four years, the No. 29 IU women's cross country team has entered the Indiana Intercollegiates to run against the rest of the state of Indiana. After Friday's race, they've come out on top each time.

No. 14 Hoosiers extend win streak to 7

After her team's 3-0 victory against the University of Maine Sunday, after she gave her post-game speech to her team and after she received multiple congratulations from friends and families of the Hoosiers, IU coach Amy Robertson proudly summed up her team's play this weekend.

It all began like your first taste of alcohol. A 3-yard touchdown run by sophomore Marcus Thigpen put an easy seven points on the board, an IU lead and the satisfying feeling that things would be looking up.

IU ties twice during weekend set in Carolina

Youth came up big for the Hoosiers this weekend. Freshmen accounted for two goals and an assist for the IU women's soccer team in a pair of 1-1 ties against teams from North Carolina over the weekend.

ST. LOUIS -- A dejected Brad Ring kept his head down as he answered questions in the shadows of Robert R. Hermann Stadium Friday night. The sophomore midfielder stood outside the IU men's soccer team's locker room, lamenting the team's third loss in four games.

IU Ethics Bowl squad looking for participants to debate issues

The IU Ethics Bowl is looking for students to apply to compete with the team in their annual intercollegiate tournament. Thirty-two teams from different colleges around the country take part in the event to tackle hypothetical ethical situations in a head-to-head debate.

New group focuses on politics

The Democracy for IU group held its first ever meeting Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Indiana Memorial Union State Room East. The four people in attendance discussed various goals, political views and how they could influence the community.

'Battle for blood' against Purdue University begins

The football rivalry between IU and Purdue might have begun with the introduction of the Old Oaken Bucket in 1925, but a more recent tradition between the schools has created a rivalry that truly runs in the veins of fans.
