IU's 50-game Big Ten unbeaten streak snapped by

The Hoosiers made history Friday night at Bill Armstrong Stadium by reaching 50 straight Big Ten conference regular season games without a loss. But by Sunday afternoon the streak was just that -- history. IU fell to Northwestern (8-3-2, 1-1-1) 1-0, breaking a 50-game Big Ten unbeaten streak, 30-game home unbeaten streak and a 20-0 all-time record against the Wildcats.

DeVault Alumni Center. The seminar, hosted by the IU Student Alumni Association, will discuss interview preparation, impression formation and the importance of presentation. The cost is $5 for SAA members and $10 for non-members.

First 'SlowFest' block party promotes locally prepared food

Slow Food Bloomington hosted SlowFest, an outdoor block party, to celebrate the local fall harvest yesterday, with several local restaurants serving foods with local flavor — literally. All the ingredients in foods present were grown by local farmers, and were the tastes of community traditions, organizers said.

Laying down on a bed of 1,000 nails, John Maloy prepared to have a cinder block broken over his chest. The Monroe County Community School Corporation superintendent helped participate in the highlight event at WonderLab's "Science Night Out." During the experiment, IU physics professor Rick Van Kooten threw an apple at the bed of nails to demonstrate they were real.

College women face self-esteem issues

IU sorority women have reason to smile by simply looking at their reflection in the mirror. Los Angeles resident Juliet Funt, a motivational speaker for eight years, lectured sorority women on the issues of body image and self-esteem in a presentation titled "Buff Up Your Insides" Thursday evening at Assembly Hall. Funt's speech framed the self-esteem of women, or the lack thereof, as an urgent issue with lifetime consequences society must recognize.

Measuring up to Clinton

If you could have a couple drinks with any living American politician, who would it be? Without hesitation, I would pick Bill Clinton. I came to this conclusion after a waking dream about John Kerry. He was on a golf cart, giving his speech about the various socio-economic gaps currently afflicting American society. When he suddenly remarked about the state of things as "bullshit," I woke up, instantly realizing it was a dream because I know John Kerry does not possess the ability to be so candid, nor so emphatic.

During Wednesday night's final presidential debate, both candidates fought in a last-ditch effort to win over the many undecided voters in America. Silk Road Ensemble blurs international borders in music

Livin' it up, Libertarian style As usual, this election, I'm glad to be neither a Republican nor a Democrat. If you believe that the faster U.S. soldiers hightail it out of Iraq, the better, for whom can you vote? Bush would continue his war, in its various, horrible forms. Kerry would send more troops to Iraq and perpetuate war as insidiously as Bush. Nader would internationalize it.
