Smith discusses differences, similarities between Robinson and Roberson

During a phone interview Monday, Warren Central (Ind.) football coach John Hart said true freshman quarterback Tre Roberson has "a lot of similarities" with junior Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson. Remember, as a senior at Lawrence Central (Ind.), Roberson helped knock Warren Central out of the 2010 IHSAA playoffs.

DB Kiles leaves team

IU defensive back Lenyatta Kiles has left the football team, according to multiple sources. Kiles is the tenth scholarship player to leave the team during Coach Kevin Wilson's first season in Bloomington. Kiles, a junior college transfer from Cerritos College, appeared in seven games for the Hoosiers last year.

A Closer Look at Kevin Wilson's Northwestern Offense

In today's article about Wilson's days at Northwestern, IU Defensive Tackles Coach Mark Hagen mentioned that Wilson and the late Northwestern Coach Randy Walker brought the idea of the zone-read spread offense to the Midwest. The offense was tweaked and adjusted by many coaches on the East Coast like then-Clemson Offensive Coordinator Rich Rodriguez, but migrated west with Walker and Wilson.

Men's soccer holds onto 2-0 lead, Soderland gets first start

In games past, after gaining a 2-0 late in the first half or in the early second half, the men's soccer team has been accustomed to giving up late second half goals, and either tying or losing the game. Weeks ago, when they faced top-10 ranked Louisville, the Hoosiers secured a 2-0 lead before giving up two to the Cardinals in regulation, and then falling to them in overtime.

Crean: Big Ten Media Day Press Conference Wrap

As expected, Tom Crean was peppered with Cody Zeller questions Thursday morning. Crean told a story about how during a recent scrimmage Zeller wasn't getting touches for his team and as a result his team wasn't winning.

Multiple swimmers win Big Ten weekly honors

After the men swept Tennessee and Kentucky and the women defeated Kentucky in the swimming and diving dual-meet against the two SEC schools on Saturday, October 22, sophomore Cody Miller has earned the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award, and sophomores Laura Ryan and Darian Schmidt have been honored as the men's and women's Big Ten Diver of the Week. Miller, last year's Big Ten champion in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, won both events on Saturday, racing a 55.61 in the 100-yard and 2:00.63 in the 200-yard.

Hoosier Spotlight: Jordan Hulls

Overview: Hulls is a 6-0, junior guard from down the road here in Bloomington. As a sophomore, Hulls averaged 11 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Hoosiers to take on Indiana State this Sunday in closed scrimmage

Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports is reporting that the IU men's basketball team will take on Indiana State this Sunday in a closed scrimmage in Indianapolis. Many college basketball teams particiapte in these closed type scrimmages prior to exhibition games so this should not come as a surprise to many. This Saturday IU has scheduled a Haunted Hall of Hoops for 30 minutes after the football game with Northwestern.

Roberson named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

After becoming the first true freshman in school history to start a game at quarterback, Tre Roberson is the newest Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Roberson was 16 for 24 fo 196 yards and a touchdown in IU's 45-24 loss to Iowa Saturday.
