Illinois will have a new look this season with seven new faces into a program that lost four starters. Head coach Bruce Weber said guards Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson need to be leaders as they are the Illini's two returning scorers at nine and eight points respectively.
In the middle, Weber has high expectations for 7'0" center Myers Leonard. After averaging just 2.1 points per game last season, Leonard showed his vast potential this summer making the USA under-19 team and Weber's goal for Leonard this season is to average 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Bradley transfer Sam Maniscalco is eligible immediately and Weber said the lone senior on the Illini roster will give them some much needed experience at the point guard position.
